TEN FOUNDATIONAL CONVICTIONS
PACIFIC OPEN BIBLE CHURCHES
- The local congregation is the basic unit for accomplishing God’s Great Commission.
- Not all growing churches are healthy but all healthy churches will grow.
- The best hope for long-term church planting is healthy growing churches.
- Over time, more mission money will be raised and given if we focus on helping churches grow than if we simply focus on getting more missions money.
- Our region exists to serve as a catalyst for helping churches become healthy, grow, and reproduce. This means that the region must invest its time, personnel, and financial resources in helping pastors and churches grow and maintain health.
- The region needs to be known for empowering pastors and lay leaders to become agents of change and transformation within their congregation. This means that the region must protect those pastors, lay leaders, and congregations who are willing to take risks to become healthy.
- Pastors must be leaders, not just care-givers.
- No real change happens without meaningful accountability.
- Fruitfulness is at least as important as faithfulness.
- Because leaders create growth and multiplication, it is vital for churches to focus on leadership development. The region is most helpful to the churches when they assist them in developing leaders.
