Continuing to Climb...
In year one of Leadership Summit, we drew a line in the sand to begin the process to grow in mission and health. As we enter year two, I sense there is now a line of demarcation to cross so we continue to move forward and the novelty and newness of the process doesn’t wear off or get marginalized. The key isn’t how we start the process but how we continue to work through and commit to finish the process. Starting is easy. Continuing on and working through the next layer of issues is where pain can often surface. But, it is here in the process that can lead to the greatest payoff in moving forward.
That is what Leadership Summit 2010 is designed for, to help us keep our leadership edge sharp and focus clear through the process and year two issues. Leadership Summit 2010 is your chance to again rally the troops, bring all of your leaders together to a place where we can refocus the mission and continue to grow together in and through this process started just over a year ago. This year’s one day Summits will be both challenging and encouraging. We are tweaking our Summit day just a bit this year by having two speakers share the day. We are excited about our speakers.
Saturday Session 1: We are thrilled to have Dr. Paul Borden Executive minister of Growing Healthy Churches (Southern California and Northwest & Northeast Washington Summits) and Pastor Tim Brown Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clovis (Northern California & Oregon Summits) return as our Summit Speakers. We have asked them to return as key leaders leading us through this process and share on what to expect, prepare for and do heading into year 2. Paul and Tim are well known to us from last year’s Summits and will again come with loads of experience and wisdom and “bring it” with a healthy dose of challenge, humor and humility.
Saturday Session 2: We are also excited to have Pastor Andy VomSteeg, Lead Pastor at New Vintage Church in Santa Rosa, California. You may have heard Dr. Borden refer to him and his cutting edge, push the envelope ministry. Andy went to an established church and was committed to making it a missional church to reach the lost at all costs. In doing so, he has had to weather some stormy times through the process yet stayed committed to what God has called him to do and now runs over 1,000 people in his weekend services. He will speak well on the subject of processing the pain and working though the difficulties that come about when making changes. Andy will look, from a leader’s perspective, at working with our people as well as dealing with internal and personal issues of the process. |
